On July 18 and 19, 2017, seven Kosovo company representatives from the apparel sector, were on a two-day study visit in Albania. The purpose of the visit was to share best practices between apparel companies and to gain first-hand knowledge on increasing the efficiency of their productions. This is an area where the Albanian apparel manufacturers excel in with 90% production efficiency, while Kosovo companies produce at only 40% efficiency.
The Kosovo delegation consisted of representatives from apparel companies: Artatex, Staff S/Sprint, Wear and Go, Intertex, Creative, Puntex, and Inversone. They visited Albanian workwear producers GRORI Confection, and Kristal 2001 in Durres, textile producer Naber in Durres, jeans producer Blue Sky in Fier, and companies Marlotex, Berat Confection, Center Shqiptare and Caterina Firenze in Berat.
During the visit, the Kosovo and Albanian apparel producers discussed jointly participating in the EU Apparel Fairs in the future. Company representatives from both countries found that there is a huge potential for job creation and export expansion by sharing best practices and collaborating in the labor-intensive apparel industry. The visit was supported by EMPOWERPrivateSector in partnership with Sida – Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete and the Kosovo Apparel Marketing Association KAMA.
