On July 24th 2017, US Ambassador Greg Delawie and USAID Mission Director James Hope visited EMPOWER Private Sector beneficiary Binni. A leading furniture manufacturer in Kosovo, Binni produces quality kitchens, doors, windows, and a variety of other furniture. Co-owner Bedri Fazliu explained the different processes of furniture making and talked about the company’s plans for the future.
Binni recently opened their new modern showroom in France, but the journey to become an international exporter was commenced by the Fazliu brothers in 1989. The company started in Vushtrri in a small family workshop, but it gradually grew by expanding and diversifying its production line, and updating its styles into modern and functional designs. In 2015, EMPOWER Private Sector in partnership with Sida– Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete supported Binni with a grant to purchase an essential wood-processing machine. This allowed the company to increase their production capacity and improve production efficiency. As a result, Binni employed 28 new workers, increasing their permanent staff to 120 employees.
Binni now has a well-established presence in Kosovo with selling points in Prizren, Pejë, Vushtrri and the new modern showroom opening soon in Lapje Selo, Graçanicë. In addition, Binni has a solid presence in international markets. Creative designs and high-quality furniture have been the signature of Binni company, empowering them to penetrate the EU market. Nearly 50% of Binni’s products are exported to EU countries.
