On August 9th 2017, USAID Mission Director James Hope visited Peppermint International in Leposavic. The company produces essential oils through distillation/extraction processes from a wide variety of wild-growing medicinal and aromatic plants.
During the visit, the owner Stojan Milojević showed to the Mission Director the new equipment and gave a tour around the two facilities; one where the herbs are collected, dried and kept in cooling chambers, and the other one where they produce essential oils through distillation/extraction processes.
EMPOWER Private Sector in partnership with Sida- Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete provided a grant of €70,000 to Peppermint International to co-finance the purchase of a cooling chamber and vacuum drying chamber, both of which are essential for processing herbs into demanded oils continuously through the year. The production and sales expansion will require employment of 17 new workers over the next three years.
