On August 9th, 2018, USAID Mission Director Lisa Magno visited EMPOWER Private Sector beneficiary BINNI in Vushtrri. Binni’s co-owner walked the Mission Director around large production facility and its modern showroom and talked about the variety of products the company offers and about the company’s position in the market.
Established in 1989 as a family business, BINNI has invested in technology and staff to become a leader in the wood processing industry not only in Kosovo but also the region. Currently, BINNI has around 140 employees. Besides its existing three big showrooms in Kosovo (Vushtrri, Peja, and Prizren), BINNI is in the final phase of completing a showroom in the Prishtina region that is expected to boost local sales and create new jobs. In 2016, the company opened a showroom in France to cover EU markets. BINNI exports around 50% of its products to Switzerland, France, and Germany.
In 2015, EMPOWER Private Sector in partnership with Sida – Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency supported BINNI with a grant to purchase a wood-processing machine. The support empowered the company to increase their production capacity and wood processing efficiency, resulting in 67 new jobs.
