On February 27th 2019, Kosovo apparel companies participated in a one-day training workshop on the Production Management System (PMS). Participants were trained on establishing Process Specifications, Standard Minute Value (SMV) and Standard Allowed Minute (SAM) and “Pitch Time”. During training, the 13 participants from 9 companies had the opportunity to work and consult with the PMS expert on how to calculate quantity of labor, machines and floor space needed for their production and reduce operating costs.
The apparel sector in Kosovo is steadily growing and having qualified staff with the appropriate training will increase potential opportunities to reach larger markets. The PMS training will help companies to increase their efficiency and improve their production management capability.
The USAID EMPOWER Private Sector project in partnership with Sida organized the training with the aim of increasing the productivity and quality methods that will help create more jobs in the Kosovo apparel industry.
