On March 26th and 27th, 19 youth from Gjilan, Han i Elezit and Kacanik were awarded certificates for the successful completion of in-company training at ceremonies in Han i Elezit and Gjilan. The training was part of EMPOWER Private Sector’s first phase of the On-the-Job (OTJ) training program which aims to increase the skills of youth in Gjilan, Kaçanik, Hani i Elezit, and Viti, and enhance their chances of finding sustainable jobs in the future. The youth completed 3-months of training at companies Sharrcem, Oxa Group, Fluidi and Flexograf. Already, five of them have been employed by the companies.
Labinota Shkodra from Gjilan completed her the training at company Flexograf, and is now a full-time employee of the company thanks to the OTJ training program. “The training at Flexograf was one of the best experiences of my life. Thanks to the On-the-Job training program, I had the opportunity to work closely with qualified staff who taught me how to effectively complete the work. After finishing this training, I was given the opportunity to be a part of Flexograf as a permanent employee, an opportunity which I never believed I would have. The On-the-Job training made my dream come true!” said Ms. Shkodra upon receiving her certificate.
Currently, over 60 youth from the municipalities of Gjilan, Viti, Kacanik, and Han i Elezit are undergoing training as part of the second phase of the OTJ training program in different companies. The program is financed by the USAID EMPOWER Private Sector program in partnership with Sida and implemented by the Kosovo Manufacturing Club.
