On March 29th, 2019, Kosovo wood processing companies took part in a three-day trade mission in Belgium. The aim of the mission was to support the expansion of Kosovo businesses and increase Kosovo exports through market linkages with European markets, including Diaspora businesses.
Representatives from companies Ciao Berto, Elnor, Candeo, Albed and Shehu and the Association of Wood Processors of Kosovo visited five showrooms and met with 16 Belgian and Albanian Diaspora businesses in various cities in Belgium. The mission was productive, with all five companies creating business contacts and initiating potential deals.
Through this trade mission, EMPOWER Private Sector aimed to facilitate exports by matching Kosovo furniture exporters with foreign buyers, as well as to join forces with the the Kosovo Embassy in Belgium to strengthen businesses in Kosovo. As a result of this activity, Kosovo businesses from the wood processing sector will have better access to the Belgium and larger European markets.
The mission was organized by USAID’s EMPOWER Private Sector in partnership with Sida and the Kosovo Embassy in Belgium in collaboration with the Association of Wood Processors of Kosovo.
