On October 15, 2019 the fourth Kosovo Wood Industry Convention was held in Prishtina to promote Made in Kosovo furniture and support the growth of the wood-processing industry in Kosovo. The one-day event provided an avenue for Kosovo wood-processing companies to gain visibility and promote their products. It gathered wood processors, government agencies, donors, international buyers and all relevant wood-processing industry stakeholders.
As part of the Convention, over 20 wood-processing companies exhibited their Kosovo-made furniture, doors, windows and interior products. Over 95 Business-to-Business meetings (B2B) were held between Kosovo producers and international buyers. Industry forum presentations and discussions were also held on a variety of topics such as success stories, challenges faced by the industry, new technologies in wood-processing, trends, designs and exports in the EU market, export-related access to finance and workforce development challenges and donor activities in the sector.
The fourth edition of the Kosovo Wood Industry Convention also consisted of a Student Design Contest 2019 where university students showcased their innovative furniture and interior designs followed up by direct connections between the designers and manufacturers. As a result, three finalists were awarded prizes for their best designs during the event.
The fourth edition of the Kosovo Wood Industry Convention was organized by the Association of Wood Processors of Kosovo (AWPK), with support from the USAID EMPOWER Private Sector project in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina and GIZ.
